Both run recurring work, so where is the line?
At judgement and identicality. A weekly pack assembled from the same exports, with reading and synthesis in the middle, is Cowork's shape: hand over the folder and cadence, review the result. A process that must execute identically every time to meet an SLA is Make's: deterministic automation beats an agent exercising judgement there, by design rather than by capability.
Make has AI agents now too, so does that close the gap?
It narrows it at the edges. Make's agents live inside the scenario builder as reusable components with their reasoning visible step by step, which suits judgement moments inside an otherwise defined flow. Cowork is the inverse: a general agent over your real files and connected apps, steered task by task. An agent inside your workflow versus a worker across your tools is still a real difference.
