Gong vs Fireflies.ai
A plain-English comparison to help you choose between them.
Fireflies is meeting intelligence; Gong is revenue intelligence, and the gap between those phrases is the price difference. Fireflies records, transcribes across a very wide language set, syncs summaries into the CRM and makes the archive queryable. Gong analyses what was said to read deal risk, coach reps from flagged moments and forecast from conversation signals, at platform economics for real sales floors. Pick Fireflies for capture and CRM plumbing at sensible cost; pick Gong when conversation analytics should drive coaching and forecasting.
Side by side
- Summary
Gong is revenue intelligence: every customer conversation captured and analysed, deal risk read from what was actually said, coaching drawn from real calls with the moments flagged, and forecasts built on conversation signals rather than rep optimism.
- Best for
- Conversation intelligence across every customer call
- Deal risk read from real conversations
- Coaching from flagged moments in actual calls
- Forecasting on signals rather than optimism
- Revenue organisations at platform scale
- Less suited to
Small teams are outside the economics: below a real sales floor, the platform fee is hard to justify against the meeting-recorder tier.
It also inherits the recorder's obligations at enterprise scale: consent, retention and cross-border policy come before rollout.
- Cost
- Enterprise
- Ease
- Intermediate
- Openness
- Hosted service
- Data
- Gong records and stores customer conversations, so it is compliance-sensitive: require an enterprise DPA, confirm consent/recording notifications (especially in two-party-consent jurisdictions) and data-handling terms. Note the three-part bill, platform fee + per-user + onboarding, means the effective per-user cost is far above the headline seat rate.
- Summary
Fireflies is meeting intelligence wired into the revenue stack: it records and transcribes calls across a very wide language set, summarises them into decisions and actions, and syncs what mattered into the CRM and the team's other systems.
- Best for
- Transcription across a very wide language set
- Meeting summaries synced into the CRM automatically
- Questioning the whole meeting archive by asking
- Workflow integrations that move actions where work happens
- Teams that treat conversations as revenue data
- Less suited to
Fireflies is a recorder-and-sync layer, not a conversation-intelligence coach: scoring, talk-pattern analytics and pipeline coaching belong to the dedicated revenue-intelligence platforms.
It also inherits the recorder's obligations: consent norms, retention policy and bot-in-the-room etiquette need settling before a team-wide rollout.
- Cost
- Free tier + paid plans
- Ease
- Beginner-friendly
- Openness
- Hosted service
- Data
- Meeting audio and transcripts store in Fireflies' cloud; check retention settings against your policies.
By area

|---|---|---|
| Sales | Gong is a revenue-intelligence platform with capture underneath | affordable recording and summaries are the actual need |

Common questions
Is Fireflies enough for a sales team?
For capture, notes and CRM hygiene, very often yes, and at a fraction of the cost. What it does not do is Gong's analytical layer: deal-risk signals, coaching insights and conversation-based forecasting.
When does Gong's price make sense?
At sales-floor scale, where the guide's honest line is that smaller teams struggle to justify the platform fee. If flagged coaching moments and forecast accuracy move real revenue numbers for you, the economics work; below that, they do not.
Can they coexist?
Rarely worth it: their capture layers duplicate. The realistic path is Fireflies until the organisation genuinely needs revenue intelligence, then a deliberate migration to Gong.
