Where do they honestly overlap?
On scheduled, recurring work. Both will run a weekly job unattended, which is where teams actually face the choice. The dividing line is judgement: where a process must run identically every time to meet an SLA, deterministic automation beats an agent exercising discretion, and where the run involves reading files, reconciling exceptions and writing the summary, the agent is the point.
How do the two bills behave?
Zapier starts free and scales by task volume, which is generous for light use and punishing for heavy pipelines; the migration is easier planned than discovered on an invoice.
