Common questions
Do these two even compete?
Less than the shared category tags suggest, and saying so is more useful than forcing a shortlist. They overlap where a team asks who should make sense of our data. Claude answers by reasoning over what you give it in a session; Airtable AI answers by operating inside the base where that data already lives. Plenty of teams run both without friction.
Which handles a large volume of records better?
Airtable AI, structurally. It works on the rows in place, so a rule applied once applies to every record and keeps applying as new ones arrive. Claude reasons over material you bring into a conversation, which is powerful on a body of documents but is a session rather than a standing process, and repeating it across thousands of rows is not what it is shaped for.
What does Claude offer that a workspace AI cannot?
Depth on the hard, unstructured middle of a problem. It sustains long context across detailed instructions, compares and synthesises heavy source material, argues against your framing when the framing is weak, and produces reports, tools and visualisations in Artifacts. Airtable AI is not built for that, and does not claim to be; it is built to industrialise the routine part.
